Future Hope

Oct 28th, 2009 by Chad | 0

Scripture
Job 19:25-27 (NLT)
“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last. 26 And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! 27 I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought!

Observation
We find Job in the aftermath of great loss, but also in the midst of having to defend himself against his “friends”. But in all this, Job is holding tightly to the sovereignty of God. The thought of God reigning supreme is motivating his heart with hope for greater things to come.

Application
I think the thing that always impresses me about Job is that he never for a second doubts God’s supremacy in all things. He wonders, “Why?” just like the rest of us, but never allows this to block out the fact that God is in control. Remembering this re-charges Job with Hope in the Good God is going to bring from this time of trial.

There’s a lot to be said about proper focus during the stressful times. When we remember our savior, it changes perspective and creates a new motivation for our future hope!

Prayer
Lord, I will always need you. Always! Keep my eyes trained on you, no matter what. I love you Lord, Amen!
